Matthew Smith, a solicitor within Coles Miller’s litigation team, has recently been advising owners of freehold properties, on cases relating to Electric Power Cable Easements.
Deeds proposed by Southern Electric Power Distribution, part of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), grants the energy company the permanent right to retain overhead electricity lines/ power cables over properties. SSE propose the permanent easement so as to update the older wayleave agreements which were widely used to deal with overhead power cables when they crossed over private property. SSE offer clients an amount of compensation in return for the grant of the easement and they usually agree to cover clients fees so they do not have to forego any of the compensation offered.
If your property is affected by the proposed grants, contact Matthew at Coles Miller in Bournemouth on 01202 293226 for advice on how to ensure you receive fair compensation.
