Cohabitation agreements are recommended particularly for couples who are to live together but have contributed unequally to the financial circumstances or who in any event wish to be able to decide in advance how any potential dispute between them would be resolved. 

Having an agreement in place can prevent lengthy and costly disputes should a separation occur, saving both parties additional stress and upset at a difficult time.
