Coles Miller Strengthens Its Team Of Family Law Solicitors30th Apr 2015
Dorset law firm Coles Miller has strengthened its family law team by recruiting solicitor and mediator Richard Perrins.
Poole-born Richard has six years of experience as a family law solicitor. He deals with a wide range of legal issues including divorce, finances and children arrangements.
Richard also has specialist experience in dealing with fertility law and alternative family structures. This is an ever-increasing area of family law practice and can be extremely complex.
As a qualified mediator, he can help couples in troubled relationships to separate and divorce without the expense of having to go to court.
Couples are now legally obliged to consider mediation before going to court. It can help to reduce the inherent stress of separation and divorce and enables families to reach their own solutions, which can often be of benefit to any children involved.
“It is always distressing when a relationship ends but we can help by providing mediation to make the process quicker and less stressful - both emotionally and financially,” said Richard.
Mediation is significantly cheaper than going to court: “Getting access to justice is becoming a massive issue for a lot of people - the courts are seeing more people who are representing themselves mainly because of the removal of legal aid causing lengthy delays.”
Mediation supported by independent legal advice could be particularly effective for cohabiting couples due to the complex nature of these disputes and the lack of clarity in the law in this area, he added.
