Leading law firm Coles Miller is backing the battle against cancer by sponsoring the Race for Life in Bournemouth and Poole.
More than 6,500 runners are set to take part – making the local Race for Life one of the largest of its kind on the South coast. Organisers hope to raise more than £339,000.
Bournemouth’s Race for Life will take place on June 11 with a choice of two distances: 5k and 10k. In Poole there will be a 5k Pretty Muddy on June 17 and a 5k race on June 18.
Corporate sponsor Coles Miller is joining Tesco, Scottish Power and Heart to support the Race For Life.
Coles Miller Senior Partner Roger Leedham said: “We are exceptionally proud to be a corporate sponsor for one of the biggest charity events on the South coast – Cancer Research UK Race for Life 2017.
“We are passionate about working together as a community. We want to make a difference to those who have been affected by cancer or know someone who has.
“Being part of the Race for Life is a wonderful way to show our support and raise money for Cancer Research UK,” he added.
More than 20 Coles Miller staff will be taking part: 14 as runners, the rest as the Coles Miller Cheer Squad, volunteer marshals and supporters.
Cancer Research UK Area Events Manager Georgina Horne said: “Race for Life events are non-competitive.
“Participants can choose to walk, jog or run around the course. Whether they’re planning a 5k amble with friends, a 10k sprint or a mud-splattered race around Pretty Muddy, every step participants take together will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
“Every day, around 90 people are diagnosed with cancer in the South West.
“That’s why we need the support of Coles Miller to help us get the women across Poole and Bournemouth to sign up to Race for Life right now. Together, we can stop this devastating disease in its tracks.”
