Recently as a family we went through a traumatic period. I was fortunate enough to secure the services of Lindsey Arnold. Her knowledge, dedication to duty and sheer professionalism were second to none. She could not have done more for us every step of the way. I would have no hesitation in recommending Coles Miller.

Senior Family Lawyer Lindsey Arnold joined Coles Miller Solicitors Family Law team in 2013 bringing with her extensive experience in family law matters.  She is a highly experienced family practitioner who is a member of Resolution, a national community for family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a non-confrontational and constructive way, to provide a better outcome for separating families and their children.

She is an Accredited Specialist in complex financial remedy and private children law matters  and is recognised as demonstrating the outstanding level of skills, expertise and excellence in the practice of family law in these specific areas.

Lindsey specialises in all aspects of private law children matters acting for parents, grandparents and other extended family members.  She often deals with cases of high complexity and has worked on some high profile cases, attracting media attention and has a particular interest in Human Rights, and International Movement of Children whether in respect of an application for a planned removal of children from the jurisdiction or unlawful removal under the Hague Convention.

In addition she is regularly instructed on routine applications for Child Arrangements Orders and has also represented children in Court proceedings allowing them to participate actively or represented them via a Court Guardian.

Lindsey also undertakes a practice with a focus on divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships and separation and financial remedies, TOLATA and property disputes for married and unmarried clients.

Lindsey is client focused and known for her passion for family law and is committed to providing a high quality service and has appeared at all levels of the Family Court before the Magistrates, District Judges, Circuit Judges and also in the High Court and at the Royal Courts of Justice. She is practical, sensitive, and understanding in her approach and provides clear advice during what can often be traumatic times, either due to mental health issues or the stress of dealing with Court proceedings.

Lindsey will reduce or manage conflict and confrontation where possible for her clients and will use her experience to navigate them through the options available to them.

Notable Cases

Lindsey was shortlisted for Jordans Family Lawyer of the Year for her work on the case of Mabon v Mabon where the Court of Appeal considered independent representation of ‘competent’ children. In granting the appeal they gave permission to 3 children to ‘drop’ their Guardian. This case emphasised the need for the Judiciary to perceive the case from the perspective of the child and gave children a voice other than through their Guardian.

Lindsey has also dealt with a number of Human Rights cases and a case that involved applying for a Judicial Review and obtaining injunctive relief against the Home Office, to prevent the separation of a baby and Mother who was serving a prison sentence at the time. Also a high profile case that involved intervening on behalf of a family client in proceedings brought by the Crown in respect of Money Laundering.

Biography

Prior to becoming a lawyer Lindsey qualified as a teacher and has taught children in various schools in and around Dorset including a school for the deaf and also spent time working for the Court and the Children’s Services.

Interests

Outside work Lindsey enjoys the cinema, theatre, photography (often looking for the ultimate sunrise/sunset), music (and is a Gary Barlow fan), travel and the odd cocktail.  She has backpacked around the world several times solo and has extensively travelled the sub-continent and over the years has been to some amazing destinations including Easter Island and the South Pacific Islands.
