Lawyers are being invited to a masterclass on the latest updates to the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA).

The course is being run by Coles Miller Solicitors and Magdalen Chambers. It will be a four-step seminar on the pitfalls of dealing with Trusts of Land claims.

Attendees will receive 4.5 CPD points. They will learn about:

  • The legal framework for a claim - including the significant case law
  • Pursuing the claim - civil procedure, types of claim, offers, costs, pre-action protocol, burden of proof, gathering evidence
  • Interaction with other claims - including family procedure rules, bankruptcy and secured creditors
  • Conclusions and tactics - defending the claim, linked claims, tactical considerations, protecting interests, enforcement.

The course will be held on Thursday October 16 (9.30am-4.30pm) at the RNLI College in West Quay Road, Poole. It costs £55+VAT per person with proceeds going to BCHA which provides information, support or accommodation to people living in a violent or abusive relationship.
