Lindsey specialises in all aspects of private law children matters acting for parents, grandparents and other extended family members.  She often deals with cases of high complexity and has worked on some high profile cases, attracting media attention and has a particular interest in Human Rights, and International Movement of Children whether in respect of an application for a planned removal of children from the jurisdiction or unlawful removal under the Hague Convention.

In addition she is regularly instructed on routine applications for Child Arrangements Orders and has also represented children in Court proceedings allowing them to participate actively or represented them via a Court Guardian.

Lindsey will reduce or manage conflict and confrontation where possible for her clients and will use her experience to navigate them through the options available to them.

Career Highlights

Lindsey was shortlisted for Jordans Family Lawyer of the Year for her work on the case of Mabon v Mabon where the Court of Appeal considered independent representation of ‘competent’ children. In granting the appeal they gave permission to 3 children to ‘drop’ their Guardian. This case emphasised the need for the Judiciary to perceive the case from the perspective of the child and gave children a voice other than through their Guardian.

Lindsey has also dealt with a number of Human Rights cases and a case that involved applying for a Judicial Review and obtaining injunctive relief against the Home Office, to prevent the separation of a baby and Mother who was serving a prison sentence at the time. Also a high profile case that involved intervening on behalf of a family client in proceedings brought by the Crown in respect of Money Laundering.

Prior to becoming a lawyer Lindsey qualified as a teacher and has taught children in various schools in and around Dorset including a school for the deaf and also spent time working for the Court and the Children’s Services.

Outside work Lindsey enjoys the cinema, theatre, photography (often looking for the ultimate sunrise/sunset), music (and is a Gary Barlow fan), travel and the odd cocktail.  She has backpacked around the world several times solo and has extensively travelled the sub-continent and over the years has been to some amazing destinations including Easter Island and the South Pacific Islands.
