Motorcycle accidents

How our personal injury team can help

A recent road collision near Wimborne, in Dorset left a motorcyclist in his 50s with life-changing injuries, according to local reports in the Daily Echo. Dorset Police received the call just before 3 p.m., and emergency services rushed the rider to hospital.

Motorcycle accidents like these are often devastating - not only physically, but emotionally and financially. Even for seasoned and experienced riders, one moment can alter the course of a life. That’s where Coles Miller Solicitors’ Personal Injury team can help - to provide clarity, support, and fair compensation during your most difficult times.

The ripple effect of motorcycle accidents

Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable on the roads. A serious crash can lead to:

  • Severe injuries: broken bones, spinal damage, head trauma, or internal injuries
  • Long-term rehabilitation, often requiring time off work
  • Emotional and psychological strain, from trauma to loss of independence
  • Financial burdens, including medical bills, modified transport, and loss of earnings.

If you, or a loved one are facing the aftermath of a motorcycle accident, the aftereffects can be very devastating - and you shouldn’t have to deal with this alone. We can help.

Why should you choose Coles Miller’s Personal Injury team?

We have expertise you can trust

Our team has a distinguished record for securing compensation for motorcyclists involved in serious collisions, covering everything from physical recovery to ongoing care costs and psychological support.

Our compassionate, client-centred approach

We understand that behind every individual case is very emotional: and can be a story of pain and loss. That’s why we listen first to our clients; working with medical experts, therapists, and vocational specialists to build a claim that fully reflects your needs and future challenges.

No upfront legal fees

We operate on a no-win, no-fee basis. This means you can pursue the justice and financial protection you deserve without having to bear any immediate legal costs.

We have local knowledge, and set national standards

Based in Dorset, our solicitors know the local courts, insurers, and medical networks locally, while delivering legal expertise that meets national standards of excellence.

How can Coles Miller support you?

Our Personal Injury solicitors go far beyond securing a compensation cheque. We are here to support you for every step of your recovery and future. We assist with:

Immediate guidance and free case assessment

We provide a free, no-obligation consultation to understand your case. We explain your rights, the strength of your claim, and the potential routes forward - without the confusing legal jargon.

Access to rehabilitation and medical treatment

We work closely with medical professionals and rehabilitation specialists to arrange treatment as early as possible. In the most serious cases, we can arrange an immediate needs assessment funded by the insurer. In many other cases, we can secure interim payments from insurers to fund:

  • Surgery
  • Physiotherapy
  • Counselling or CBT for trauma and anxiety
  • Home adaptations (e.g., ramps, stairlifts, wet rooms)
  • Specialist mobility equipment or modified vehicles.

Financial security

Motorcycle accidents often result in extended time off work, or in severe cases, permanent loss of income. We calculate not only your immediate losses (such as wages and medical bills) but also your future needs, including:

  • Loss of earnings and pension contributions
  • The cost of retraining or career changes if you can’t return to your old role
  • Long-term care and support needs.

Support for families

We recognise that families often bear the brunt of these accidents. Partners and children may suddenly become carers, household finances may be under strain, and future plans may be uncertain. We include these considerations when negotiating your settlement.

Fighting your corner against insurers

Insurers may try to minimise payouts or argue that the motorcyclist was partly to blame. With decades of experience, Coles Miller’s lawyers know how to challenge these tactics and secure fair compensation.

No win, no fee

We believe everyone should have access to justice. That’s why we act on a No Win, No Fee basis, meaning you don’t face any upfront legal costs. Find out more about No Win, No Fee here.

Case study:

In June 2023 the Claimant was knocked off his bicycle by a car emerging from a side road. He was taken to hospital by road ambulance having suffered multiple injuries including a soft tissue injury to the right shoulder, a fracture rib and a fractured leg. He was unable to work for 3 months and required assistance with personal care for the same period of time. Most injuries settled within a few months but issues with the shoulder and leg persisted, and the Claimant required physiotherapy. Initially liability was denied by the insurers but was eventually admitted. Interim payments were obtained in relation to lost earnings and the pre-accident value of the motorcycle which was a total loss. Physiotherapy was arranged and funded by the insurers via their rehabilitation providers. The Claimant went on to achieve a complete recovery within two-years and the claim settled by negotiation for £27,500.
