Coles Miller's Stuart Bradford Appointed Court of Protection Panel Deputy10th Feb 2017
Mr Bradford is one of only 10 solicitors in the South West to hold this role and the only one in Dorset.
He will work with the Court of Protection in Holborn, London and also with the Office of the Public Guardian which supports it.
His role is to provide legal protection to people who have lost the ability to take decisions for themselves and have no family or friends to help them.
In most of these cases, the people concerned will have no Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) nominating loved ones, friends or trusted professional advisers to take decisions on their behalf.
But other cases will involve him protecting vulnerable people from nominated individuals or other people seeking to take advantage through coercion or undue influence.
“I feel very honoured to be appointed to this role. It is a great responsibility and one that will become ever more important as Britain’s elderly population increases,” he said.
Stuart Bradford is the Head of Coles Miller’s Probate Department. He is based at the firm’s Poole and Wimborne offices.
He has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2007 and is also a member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
In becoming a Court of Protection Panel Deputy, he follows in the footsteps of Coles Miller’s former Senior Partner David Parfitt, who remains a consultant at the firm.
