Family Mediation Week (January 17-21 2022): Cutting The Cost Of Divorce17th Jan 2022

Solicitors at Coles Miller are supporting Family Mediation Week (January 17-21 2022) by helping to cut the cost of divorce.

Too many separating couples go straight to court and incur significant costs after months of legal wrangling because they don’t know how mediation can save them money, says Coles Miller.

Family Mediation Week promotes the benefits that mediation can offer.

Mediation enables separating couples to part more amicably. It is cheaper and quicker than going to court – and also less stressful for any children involved.

Coles Miller family law solicitor and mediator Richard Perrins said: “If you are considering a separation then Coles Miller can help you to decide if mediation is best for you.

“You will need to come in for a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) to see how the process would help you.”

Coles Miller family law solicitor and mediator Richard Perrins said: “We strongly recommend mediation because you retain control of the process instead of handing it over to a court to decide.”

Family Mediation Week is organised by the Family Mediators Council (FMC) which represents more than 400 mediators across the UK.

The aim is to encourage separating couples to consider family mediation to help them to take control of their situation and to make decisions together.

Richard Perrins is based at Coles Miller’s office in Broadstone. The firm also has offices in Poole, Christchurch, Bournemouth and Wimborne.
