This means that there is no financial risk to you; there’s nothing to pay upfront and you won’t be responsible for any fees if your claim is unsuccessful. You can find out more about this service here.

What Is A Personal Injury?

‘Personal injury’ is the legal term for an illness or injury that was caused, or made worse, by somebody else’s negligence.

Under these circumstances, you will often be able to claim compensation for the injuries sustained. This compensation could help you to access the support you need to aid your recovery or make your life easier while you live with the repercussions.

We’ve helped hundreds of people to claim the compensation they deserve. We want to help you, too.

How Long Do I Have To Make A Personal Injury Claim?

You normally have three years from the date of your accident to start your personal injury claim.

There are exceptions to the three-year rule, however.

If you experience a workplace injury, for example, you might not realise that this was due to negligence until some time after the event. In this case, you could have three years from when you discovered that negligence was a factor.

Similarly, there may be situations in which the time to claim is less than three years. This is why, if you think you might have a claim, it’s important to contact us as soon as possible.

What Type Of Personal Injuries Can I Claim For?

‘Personal injury’ covers many different afflictions, from simple accidents at work to complex and severe brain and spinal injuries.

We have worked with claimants experiencing a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Some of these are very rare but many are extremely serious and have a significant impact on those who experience them.

Here are some examples…

Poisoning

Victims of food poisoning or other toxic injuries can claim compensation for treatment and care, loss of earnings plus other expenses.

Poisoning or other adverse reactions can be caused by:

food-borne bacteria in restaurants or purchased food

carbon monoxide leaks from a faulty boiler, gas fire, water heater or cooker

incorrect medicines or prescriptions

toxic chemicals or substances – such as lead, pesticides or household cleaning products.

Fatal Accidents

No amount of money can ever compensate you for the loss of a loved one.

Some bereaved relatives claim damages because they want justice. They want an apology, an explanation, something done to help stop similar tragedies from hitting other families.

Others claim because they have no choice. They have to support their children. The loved one they lost was the main provider for the family.

Why should you and your family suffer financially because someone very dear to you died in an accident that could and should have been avoided? We are here to support you in situations such as these.

Spinal Injury

Spinal injuries are among the most serious compensation claims handled by Coles Miller’s specialist Personal Injury team.

Claims can result in multi-million-pound payouts for accident victims who have been paralysed; they can be left needing specialist care and unable to work.

Other claims can involve supposedly minor back injuries which can still have a significant impact on the victim’s quality of life and their ability to work.

We handle cases from all over the UK. Our lawyers can visit you at home or in hospital to make sure you can claim the compensation you deserve.

Sports Injury

Many sports injuries involve broken or fractured bones and damage to soft tissues, such as ligaments and cartilages. They can be caused by dangerous tackles (or even assaults) in team games such as football or rugby.

Injuries can also be caused by defective sports equipment, dangerous pitch conditions or negligence by coaching and medical staff.

Sports injuries can be life-changing. They don’t just end playing careers – they can leave victims crippled or with debilitating conditions such as Post-concussion Syndrome.

Don’t delay – please contact us if you have experienced a sports injury due to somebody else’s negligence.

Accidents Abroad

Accidents and illnesses abroad are not just a serious injury risk. They can result in substantial costs if the correct legal action is not taken.

Coles Miller solicitors handle British holidaymakers’ No Win No Fee compensation claims from all over the world, ensuring are repatriated safely to the UK so they can receive expert medical care.

Coles Miller Supports 'Rebuilding Shattered Lives'

The APIL Rebuilding Shattered Lives campaign aims to ensure that the law which helps victims of negligence is not eroded. Those responsible for causing injuries like Victoria’s must provide the financial support she needs to try to put her life back together, and the law is there to make that happen. But it often comes under attack from those who aren’t willing to pay for their negligence. We must all be vigilant to ensure that the civil justice system is valued and protected and that the injured person is always at its heart.
